Antiochos, 6th-7th centuries. Seal (Lead, 24 mm, 8.34 g, 12 h). The Mother of God facing holding infant Christ, both nimbate; to left and right, cross. Rev. Cruciform monogram of ANTIOXOV. Cheynet, Tatis, 8.3. About extremely fine.

By the time this seal was struck, the name Antiochos went back almost a millenium, namely to Seleukos I (305-281 BC), who named his greatest foundation, Antiochia on the Orontes, after his eponymous father.
